ISLAMABAD: Turkey has appointed a senior diplomat Irfan Neziroglu as the ambassador to Pakistan. He is replacing Dr Mehmet Pacaci, who has been made special representative of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on eradication of Islamophobia at the organisation’s headquarter at Jeddah.
The proposal was mooted by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Ishaq Dar in Gambia OIC summit two months ago that was unanimously accepted by the organization. Ishaq Dar has felicitated Doctor Pacaci on his appointment.
Dr. Mehmet Pacaci is an acclaimed Muslim scholar and he will be leaving for the OIC headquarters later this month.
Irfan Neziroglu will be assuming the assignment in Islamabad immediately after the departure of Dr. Mehmet Pacaci. Neziroglu is currently Director General of Support Services at the Turkish Foreign Office in Ankara.
