Gandapur says law, order top priority

Projects included rehabilitation and improvement of a number of roads and bridges affected during floods

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Inaugurating a number of projects in his hometown, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Saturday said his government was utilizing available resources to facilitate the people.

Addressing as chief guest at the groundbreaking ceremony, he said it was the top priority of his government to improve the law and order. He said huge resources were being spent to strengthen the police force to tackle lawlessness.

He was speaking during his visit to Dera Ismail Khan, where he performed groundbreaking of a number of projects under the Rural Accessibility Programme worth billions of rupees to be completed with the assistance of World Bank.

The projects included rehabilitation and improvement of a number of roads and bridges affected during floods. Various access roads with a total length of 120 km and six bridges would be rehabilitated at a cost of Rs9 billion.

The roads included 15 km Draban-Chodwan Road, 18 km Attal-Sharif Road, 6 km Kulachi- Rori Road, 12 km Rasheed Road, 9 km Kokar-Sharki Road and others whereas the bridges included Rangpur Adda Bridge, Loni Nullah Bridge and Indus Distributary Bridge.

The chief minister remarked that provision of quality healthcare facilities was the top priority of the provincial government and added that the district level hospitals were being strengthened and equipped with required medical facilities with the aim to facilitate the people.

He said the scope of Sehat Card Scheme was being expanded to provide free treatment facilities to the have-nots.

Gandapur said that as chief minister, the entire province was his constituency and similar developmental projects would be launched in all the districts of the province.

He made it clear that there will be no compromise on the quality of work in developmental schemes, and anyone involved in any kind of malpractice in developmental projects would be dealt with iron hands. He asked the people to have a close watch on the quality of work of developmental projects in their respective areas and report any kind of substandard work to the government so that necessary action could be initiated against those involved in such malpractices.

“The government is taking result-oriented steps under a well-devised strategy to enhance its revenue. So, special attention is given to the potential sectors including Mines and Minerals, Hydel power generation, tourism, agriculture and livestock,” he said, adding that revenue thus generated would be spent on the development of the province.

The chief minister maintained the government was implementing its reform agenda at a fast pace, and people of the province would soon feel a visible change.

He said reforms were being introduced in various sectors of public service delivery to improve public service delivery up to the expectations and needs of the people.

MNAs Faisal Amin Gandapur and Dawar Kundi, MPAs Usman Bhittani, Tehsil Mayor Umar Amin Gandapur, Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Division Syed Jabbar Shah, high-ups of district administration and people attended the event.

The chief minister planted a sapling in the lawn of Circuit House in connection with monsoon plantation drive.
