The Pakistan Customs’ Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) on Saturday claimed to have seized Iranian diesel worth Rs8 million.

Syed Irfan Ali, a spokesman for the customs, said that under the government of Pakistan’s strict anti-smuggling policy and customs enforcement, Karachi’s anti-smuggling efforts are continuing on a day-to-day basis and the ASO squad continues its anti-smuggling operations across the city.

On August 31, acting on information received from a sensitive agency to Collector Customs Enforcement Basit Maqsood Abbasi, the ASO squad raided two petrol pumps located on the Northern Bypass under the supervision of Deputy Collector Customs Enforcement ASO Mohammad Raza Naqvi and seized 29,500 smuggled litres worth Rs8 million from the underground tank.

The seized Iranian diesel has been transferred to the ASO warehouse, a case has been registered under the Customs Act and further investigations are underway.
