Sindh Historical and Culture Society organised a programme on the seventh death anniversary of Prof Dr Muhammad Laiq Zardari at the Arts Council Karachi.

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar was the chief guest. Lanjar said that due to his busy schedule, most of his time is spent in meetings regarding the affairs and initiatives of his various departments, which is undoubtedly an important part of his responsibilities.

“We are proud that Dr Laiq Sahib belongs to Moro and it is indeed an honour to organize a commemorative programme in his memory by his family. Having good and righteous children is also a matter of honour and this is the child that causes honour of their ancestors,” a statement released on Friday quoted him as having said.

He said it is an honour for us that our ancestors and elders have an important role in the formation of Pakistan and it is the need of the hour to benefit the youth of today from the information received about the role of these personalities.

"I had a longstanding relationship with Dr Laiq Zardari and we were often with each other in literary and other meetings,” the home minister said and announced that the Moro Library would be named after Dr Laiq Zardari.

Later, in a media talk, he said that the law and order situation in Sindh is better than that of other provinces.

After taking charge as the home minister of Sindh, he said he stayed in Kashmore with the IGP. The CPEC is now in safe hands, the robbers of Sindh Katcha areas have now moved towards Punjab and the situation in some areas of Sindh is gradually improving, he added.

He said the services of police officers and jawans for peace in Katcha areas are commendable.
