Woman tortured, thrown from roof by in-laws

A 24-year-old woman was subjected to severe physical torture by her in-laws and later thrown from the roof of their Shadbagh house.

The victim, who was married six years ago, has been rushed to Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital in a critical condition. According to police reports, the woman's ordeal began shortly after her marriage. Her husband reportedly drug addict frequently abused her often with the involvement of his father. The police arrested the victim's father-in-law while raids were being conducted to arrest the other accused who tortured the woman.

Two injured in roof collapse

Two people were injured when the roof of their house collapsed on them in Gujjar Colony on Saturday. The Rescue-1122 team pulled two people from the debris and shifted them to Lahore General Hospital.

305 raids conduct on drug dealers hideouts

The anti-narcotics intelligence-based operations had been intensified across the province, including the city. In a single day, 305 raids were conducted on drug dealers hideouts across the province, including Lahore. A Punjab police spokesperson briefed that 115 accused were arrested and 115 cases were registered while 56-kg of hashish, 2-kg of heroin, and 1,144 liters of liquor were recovered. The spokesperson said since February, 18,163 raids had been conducted on drug dealers hideouts across the province and 22,928 accused were arrested, and 22,360 cases had been registered. The police recovered 14,577-kg of hashish, 288-kg of heroin, 423-kg of opium, 109-kg of ice and over 1.761 million liters of liquor.

Tractor trolley kills man

A man was killed by a speeding tractor trolley in Kot Lakhpat area on Saturday. The victim, a father of four girls and a resident of Chung, died on the spot after being hit by the rashly driven tractor trolley. The accused driver escaped from the scene.

Two injured in gas cylinder explosion

Two people were injured when a gas cylinder exploded in the kitchen of a restaurant located on Ferozepur Road in Wahdat Colony on Saturday. The injured were immediately shifted to Services Hospital for medical assistance. According to sources from Rescue 1122, the explosion occurred due to a gas leak from a cylinder in the restaurant. The Deputy Commissioner of Lahore took notice of the incident and ordered an inquiry.

Three found dead

Three people were found dead at three different locations of the city on Saturday. The body of a 55-year-old unidentified man was found near Jinnah Underpass, Muslim Town, while a 35-year-old man was found dead on the roadside near Pindi stop, Kot Lakhpat. The body of a 60-year-old senior citizen was found near Shahdara, Begum Kot. The bodies were shifted to the morgue.

Rs1.5m released for policemen’s treatment

Punjab IG Dr Usman Anwar has released an additional Rs1.5million for the medical expenses of officers and personnel stationed in various districts including Lahore.

According to details, 500,000 rupees have been allocated for major arm surgery for Lady Constable Saima Liaqat of Sahiwal police. A PHP officer received 250,000 rupees for his wife's treatment. DSP Abdul Sattar Khan and DSP Tahir Ijaz were each granted 100,000 rupees for head injury treatment and knee surgery, respectively. Inspector Ali Abbas Shah and Constable Muhammad Adeel Raza were also each given 100,000 rupees for the medical treatment of their wives.

Constable Atif Ameen and Constable Liaqat Ali received 100,000 rupees each for knee surgery and medical treatment, respectively. Additionally, Constable Muhammad Younas from Sialkot was provided 100,000 rupees for medical expenses.
