PESHAWAR: The appointment of medical superintendent of District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Nowshera, was challenged at the Peshawar High Court on Saturday.

Petitioner Malik Wilayat Shah prayed the court that appointment of Dr Mujtaba Ali as MS DHQ Hospital, Nowshera, should be declared illegal for charges of anomalies against him.

The petitioner took the stance that Dr Mujtaba Ali had been given additional charge of MS on August 8 last. He said that he was given charge of MS in 2021 but later anomalies reported in the hospital and subsequently the Anti-Corruption Establishment conducted an inquiry.

The petition said that a first information report was also registered against the MS on November 6, 2023

for his involvement in malpractices.

It pleaded that the MS was transferred and asked him to report to the director general Health Services Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The DG Health Services, the petition said, constituted a committee, which sought records of the hospital and gave recommendations for further investigation into the embezzlement against the responsible

persons.

It added that despite the charges against the MS, he was able to get his appointment approved on a political basis, which was illegal.
