LAHORE: A delegation of the Entrepreneurs Organisation called on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif in which a proposal to form a high-level committee to solve the problems of the industry was agreed upon and Ali Alam Qamar was appointed as the focal person.

In the meeting, suggestions and recommendations were reviewed for providing low-cost electricity to the industry of Punjab and a proposal for providing cheap electricity to the industry by laying a direct transmission line was also considered. The chief minister ordered a crackdown against the sellers of substandard Iranian oil through illegal pumps.

The industrialists expressed their commitment to achieve the GDP target of $300 billion for Punjab and the chief minister said that she wanted sustainable relief in electricity bills for the industry as well.

“What is the justification for taking charges on Special Economic Zones? Get a plot and start construction of an industry within three months. We will bring about industrial revolution in Punjab in collaboration with progressive industrialists. NOCs for industry are being issued without political affiliations,” she maintained. She said that new district peace committees would be formed to eliminate sectarianism.
