ISLAMABAD: The 102nd Victory Day of Turkiye was celebrated by the Turkish embassy on Friday with fair amount of fervor at a reception arranged by Turkish Ambassador Dr. Mehmet Pacaci and Defence Attache Brig. General Umut Onol.

The event was attended by a large number of guests belonging to the twin-cities, including senior diplomats and elite. Chief of the General Staff (CGS) of the GHQ Lieutenant General Avais Dastgir, who appears in rare diplomatic events was the chief guest on the occasion, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, former KP chief minister Salim Saifullah Khan, JUI Secretary General Senator Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri and Turkmenistan Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov, who is also dean of the diplomatic corps, were among the distinguished guests.

The chief guest performed the cake-cutting ceremony. The host of the event, Ambassador Dr. Mehmet Pacaci, in his address while quoting Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan, reminded that with the great victory, Turkish nation once again declared to the whole world that it would not accept captivity, that it would not let shackles be put on its will, and that it would never compromise on living independently in its own homeland.

He said, “Today, we are all celebrating the 102nd anniversary of the Great Victory with enthusiasm, excitement and pride. On this important day, one of the critical milestones in our history, I congratulate the August 30 Victory Day of our beloved nation, our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters, and our millions of citizens all over the world.”

“The great victory won, thanks to our martyrs’ heroism, our veterans’ blood and our nation’s sacrifices, still guides us today. While marching towards our goals for the Century of Türkiye determinedly, we are also realising our ideal of a great and powerful Türkiye step by step,” he recalled.

The envoy reminded, “We are mobilising all our means and resources to stop the conflicts, oppressions and massacres occurring in different parts of the world, particularly in Gaza. We stand firmly by all the oppressed, regardless of their identity or faith and without expecting any material benefit.”

“We are stronger today than yesterday; we will be much stronger tomorrow. Together with our brothers and sisters devoted to the same ideal as ours, we will definitely establish a global order, whereby everyone will be represented fairly,” he added.

The envoy said that Türkiye, which inspired oppressed nations with its War of Independence, will also spearhead a world where peace, justice and tranquility prevail. A video was shown in the reception that displayed impressive war exercise of the three Armed Forces of Turkiye.
