Minister distributes laptops among position-holders

LAHORE:Punjab School Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat distributed laptops and certificates among the top position holder students in the 2024 Matriculation Examinations from partner schools affiliated with the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) at a ceremony held here on Friday.

The minister praised the Punjab Education Foundation as an exemplary model of public-private partnership and emphasised that the quality education provided by PEF was evident from the remarkable achievement of its students, who secured top positions in various educational boards across Punjab. The minister congratulated the students, expressing confidence that their excellence and abilities would continue to shine and bring pride to the country in the future.

As per exam results, Maria Bint Abdul Rehman secured first position in the DG Khan Board with 1,187 marks while Maryam Bibi secured second position in the Sahiwal Board with 1,116 marks. Additionally, M Umair and Alina Asif Qureshi secured third positions in the DG Khan Board with 1,185 marks each and Samia Kiran achieved third position in the Sargodha Board with 1,180 marks. Over 100,000 students from PEF-affiliated partner schools participated in the 2024 Matriculation Annual Examination.

MPhil/PhD supervisors’ training ends

A weeklong ‘MPhil/PhD Supervisors Training’ concluded here on Friday. The training was organised by the Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission. UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M Younus and HEC Lahore Region Director General Ghulam Nabi co-chaired the concluding session of the training and distributed certificates among the participants.

Prof Dr Imran Rasheed, Prof Dr Aftab Ahmad Anjum, Prof Dr M Ijaz and Prof Dr Arshad Javid were the resource persons of training. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Younus urged the faculty members and students to choose their research work with focus on addressing livestock, poultry and dairy sectors issues.

Various aspects related to role, responsibilities and expectations of supervising, keeping research on track monitoring progress, supporting candidate wellbeing professional and career development, building effective and trusting relationships, supporting candidates in writing and publication etc were discussed during the training.
