Over Rs1.75m medical funds released for cops’ families

LAHORE:The Inspector General Police (IGP), Punjab, Friday released medical funds for cops serving in various districts, including Lahore.

The IGP released over Rs1.75 million for the treatment of police employees and their families suffering from cancer, liver and kidney diseases. Constable Irshad Ahmed from Rajanpur received Rs1million for a liver transplant operation, Ghazi Constable Inam Ali from Rawalpindi Rs500,000 for major surgery and a prosthetic leg, former Sub-Inspector Abdul Qayyum Rs250,000 for his wife's cancer treatment.

The case for the medical expenses of SI Chaudhry Bashir Ahmed's wife has been instructed to be resubmitted through the CPO Rawalpindi, and they have been advised to contact PKLI for further treatment.

IGP lauds artwork of two cops

The Inspector General Police (IGP), Punjab, Friday met with two talented cops and lauded their artwork at the Central Police Office (CPO). Traffic Warden Imtiaz and Dolphin Officer Gul Zain presented their artwork to the IGP who appreciated their efforts and also announced commendation certificates for them.

Previously, NCA Principal Murtaza Jafri awarded special medals and certificates to the officers for their exceptional artwork. The cops completed their diplomas from NCA under departmental scholarships. Their sketches, landscapes, cityscapes, and calligraphy pieces now adorn the CPO. According to Punjab Police spokesperson, the artwork displayed on all floor walls of the CPO was created by the cops.

5,686 suspects arrested this year

The Lahore police arrested 5,686 suspects from 2,480 gangs this year. The police recovered 310 cars, 7,934 motorcycles and 517 other vehicles from these criminals. The spokesman for the Lahore police said that a crackdown on wanted criminals led to the arrest of 3,853 A-category and 15,753 B-category proclaimed offenders. Additionally, the police apprehended 22,114 court absconders and 9,116 individuals with prior criminal records during various operations.

In actions against illegal arms, 7,415 cases were registered, leading to the arrest of 7,415 suspects. The police recovered 105 Kalashnikovs, 457 rifles, 250 shotguns and 6,521 pistols from the arrested individuals.­
