RAWALPINDI: Three new officers, including an additional superintendent, have been appointed at Adiala jail.

According to jail sources, Ali Ameer Shah has taken charge as the additional superintendent, while Aamir Fayyaz Bhatti has been appointed as deputy superintendent of education. Jamaat Ali has assumed the role of deputy superintendent judicial. These appointments were made under the directives of Punjab Home Department.

The sources also disclosed that former deputy superintendent Zafar and assistant superintendent administration had close ties with former deputy superintendent Akram. Based on information provided by Akram, further investigations will involve six employees, including two orderlies, three warders and the head warder, all considered close associates of Akram in allegedly facilitating PTI founder Imran Khan.

In a related development, Inspector General of Prisons, Punjab, Farooq Nazir, visited the Adiala jail late Wednesday night to review security measures in place for the protection of inmates. During the visit, the IG prisons was briefed on the internet and Wi-Fi systems within the jail.
