JAMRUD: The Local Government (LG) representatives asked the government to make arrangements for the return of Kukikhel tribesmen to the Rajgal area as the displaced people continued to protest on Thursday.
“We fully support the sit-in of people from the Rajgal area of the Tirah valley and back their demand for return with dignity”, said Jamrud Tehsil Acting Chairman Uzmat Khan.Speaking at a press conference along with other representatives, he said the government should resolve the issue through negotiations and the displaced persons should be allowed to go back to Rajgal as they had been homeless for 10 years and were forced to live in a state of disrepair.
He lamented that nobody from the government was listening to them despite the fact that these people had been protesting for a return for the last month. The LG representative said the Kukikhel people were peaceful and that was why they preferred to leave their homes for the sake of the country and the nation in the past but were being ignored at present.
He asked the government to take steps to send back the Kukikhel tribesmen to their native area of Rajgal without any delay as the sit-in was affecting movement on the Pak-Afghan Highway.
