Govt not taking any action to protect Karachi during rains: Shahzad
If a major accident occurs due to heavy rains, the government will be seen accusing each other, Shahzad said
KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former Sindh Assembly member Shahzad Qureshi has said that torrential rains have started in Karachi, but the Sindh government has not taken any measures to protect the city and its citizens. The city has become a ruin due to the poor planning of the mayor, he said in a statement. He said there is a risk of urban flooding, and rainwater can destroy people’s houses, but nowhere is there any action from the government.
It seems that the government has abandoned Karachi, the PTI leader said, adding that roads in the city have been destroyed, electrocution, children drowning in drains, roofs and billboards falling have become commonplace.
If a major accident occurs due to heavy rains, the government will be seen accusing each other, he said. There is a Pakistan Peoples party government in Sindh and they cannot make any excuses, he stressed.
He requested the government to take all possible measures for the protection of cities and towns in view of heavy rains.
