PESHAWAR: Former president Arif Alvi has launched efforts to end differences among the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sources said on Wednesday.
The sources told Geo News that the former president and senior PTI leader held a meeting with Members National Assembly Muhammad Atif Khan, Junaid Akbar and Member Provincial Assembly Shakeel Khan, who was recently sacked by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur as minister for communication and works. The chief minister also de-notified MNA Junaid Akbar as the focal person.
The sources said that Arif Alvi persuaded them to avoid making statements against the chief minister on social media platforms. Atif Khan and other PTI leaders assured the former president that they would not make any statement against the chief minister. The former president assured them he would soon arrange their meeting with former prime minister Imran Khan.
It may be mentioned that Atif Khan and Junaid Akbar had made statements in support of Shakeel Khan when he was sacked.
This led the chief minister to de-notify Junaid Akbar as focal person.
Recently, MNA Sher Ali Arbab also expressed lack of trust in the working of Good Governance Committee in a meeting, which was chaired by the chief minister.
The social media is abuzz with reports that differences have cropped up among PTI KP leaders over a host of issues related to governance and alleged corruption.
According to recent media reports, Arif Alvi had refused to lead the committee formed to end the differences among PTI groups.
