JI thanks Karachiites for ‘successful’ strike
Karachi Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Munem Zafar on Wednesday thanked traders and other segments of society for observing on the JI’s call strike against independent power producers (IPPs), excessive taxation and inflation in the country.
Talking to journalists along with representatives of traders in Saddar, he said the complete strike had marked the commencement of a new era in the history of rights movements.
He said the strike was a referendum against the government’s policies and no rocket science was required to ascertain its success. The people of Karachi had rejected the ruling regime over its policies in power, local bodies and other sectors, he remarked. Following Wednesday’s strike, he said, the government would have to bow down before the just demands of the nation.
