However, the broader context raises significant concerns about the systemic failures of law enforcement in preventing such incidents in the first place. The authorities’ insistence that ‘no one is above the law’ rings hollow when one considers the frequent laxity with which traffic regulations are enforced in Karachi.
Reckless driving, particularly by those in powerful vehicles, is a well-known and pervasive issue. The fact that such incidents continue to occur underscores a chronic failure in the enforcement of traffic laws. Had there been consistent and rigorous enforcement, the tragic loss of life in this case might have been prevented.
