LANDIKOTAL: Residents of Bazaar Zakhakhel and Alacha on Tuesday staged a protest here to demand staff at the Government Primary School Sher Rahman Kilay.

The protesters gathered outside of a state-run school in bazaar Zakhakhel.

They were holding black flags and banners inscribed with slogans against the KP Education Department.

Fateh Gul Afridi, the Village Council 13 chairman, and councilor Mosam Gul Afridi addressed the protesters.

They demanded teaching staff for the Government Middle School Sher Rahman Kilay which was upgraded from primary level in 2013.

The speakers said students of various villages were compelled to travel up to 15 kilometers to reach the nearest middle school.

They were critical of the Education Department for not resolving the problem despite repeated appeals.

The speakers said the long neglect on the part of the government had deprived hundreds of children of their right to education and demanded the authorities to resolve the issue as early as possible.
