NOWSHERA: Awami National Party (ANP) provincial President Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Tuesday expressed concern over the worsening law and order in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and said incidents of subversions and targeted killings were taking place on a daily basis.

Talking to reporters here, he said the incidents of targeted killings and extortion were on the rise in various parts of the province, demanding the implementation of the National Action Plan in letter and spirit.

Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order in Balochistan, he said lawlessness was on the rise in the restive province and it seemed the situation was getting out of control. He said that political activist Umar Sherani was gunned down in Dera Ismail Khan while four people lost their lives in a blast in North Waziristan. He said the ANP had always raised its voice for the restoration of peace.

The federal and provincial governments seemed helpless before the terrorists, Mian Iftikhar said, adding that it was not the priority of the rulers to eradicate terrorism.

The rising acts of terrorism, he said, raised questions over the performance of the government. “The ones, who are responsible for this situation, should be identified in the first place,” he said, adding that why the government was dragging its feet to implement the National Action Plan.
