Islamabad : The National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) organised a significant awareness and advocacy workshop on maritime affairs, underscoring the vital role of media in national development. The workshop, attended by representatives from print, electronic, and social media, was aimed at recognising the media as the fourth pillar of democracy and its crucial contribution to nation-building.

The event focused on establishing important connections between the maritime economy, also known as the Blue Economy, and the nation’s overall economic and security landscape. President NIMA, in his welcome address, provided an insightful overview of the current geopolitical dynamics and their implications for the maritime economy and regional stability.

Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed, who attended the workshop as the Chief Guest, emphasised the importance of responsible media in today’s world. He lauded NIMA’s efforts in raising awareness about maritime issues and stressed that the media’s role in delivering accurate and unbiased information is more critical than ever.

Other distinguished speakers included Ambassador Masood Khalid, Raheel Masood, Moazzam Khan, Baber Bilal Haider, Dr. Kanwar Javed Iqbal, Faisal Raza Khan, Dr. Fasiha Safdar, and Barrister Nudrat Bayan Majeed. Each speaker contributed valuable insights into the linkages between maritime affairs and national security. The workshop concluded with Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed presenting certificates to all participants, acknowledging their contributions to the success of the event and their ongoing commitment to responsible journalism.
