Islamabad : On the instructions of President Asif Ali Zardari, a new banking model has been introduced to ensure the transparent disbursement of cash handouts to deserving women, said Benazir Income Support Programme chairperson Rubina Khalid on Tuesday.

During a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor Faisal Karim Kundi here at the BISP headquarters, Rubina Khalid briefed the visitor on ongoing and newly introduced initiatives. She said the BISP was consulting with the State Bank of Pakistan to minimise human intervention, ensuring that women receive their funds without any deductions. "Savings accounts are being opened for deserving women through the BISP Savings Scheme, allowing aid money to be directly transferred into their accounts," she said.

The BISP chairperson also highlighted a new initiative under BISP, which involves a skill development program for deserving women and their family members. She said the program would provide training in technical skills according to international standards, enabling them to improve their quality of life and contribute to the country's economy.

"This initiative will help BISP graduate from poverty, thereby allowing more deserving families to benefit from the cash handout programme," she said.
