KARACHI: Visa and foodpanda have announced a partnership to accelerate the adoption of online payments in Pakistan, a statement said on Tuesday.

Visa is a world leader in digital payments and foodpanda is an online delivery platform.

“The partnership is designed to accelerate the adoption of online payments in Pakistan by integrating Visa on the leading food and grocery delivery service in Pakistan, offering customers irresistible discounts,” read the statement.

“Our partnership is a major leap towards mutual growth and success for both companies, and it reflects our commitment to providing unparalleled value to users across the country,” said CEO of foodpanda Muntaqa Peracha. “We are pleased to bring our customers exceptional savings and convenience through Visa, and we look forward to a fruitful and impactful year ahead.”

Country Manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan at Visa Umar Khan said, “We are delighted to partner with foodpanda, one of the most popular online delivery platforms in Pakistan, to offer our cardholders more value and convenience when they order food or groceries online.

According to industry reports, 95 per cent of Pakistan’s e-commerce payments are still being done via cash-on-delivery, and this partnership is aligned with our vision of enabling digital payments for everyone, everywhere, and supporting Pakistan’s journey towards a cashless economy.”
