ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) summoned on Friday detailed report from Foreign Ministry about handing over Aafia Siddiqui to US.
On the other hand, Mr Smith, the counsel for Aafia Siddiqui has filed his affidavit in the court. Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq took up the case for hearing on Monday. Additional Attorney General (AAG) Muhammad Iqbal Dogal Imran Shafiq, counsel for family of Aafia Siddiqui and amicus curiae Zainab Janjua appeared in the court.
Fouzia Siddiqui, sister of Aafia Siddiqui also appeared in the court through video link. At the inception of hearing, Mr Smith, counsel for Aafia Siddiqui filed his affidavit in the court. Upon this affidavit, the IHC has sought replies to two questions with reference to handing over Aafia Sidduiq and her children to US authorities.
AAG said questions related to agencies on the matter of handing over of Aafia Siddiqui along with her children to US be kept apart otherwise the purpose of the petition will not be served.
Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan remarked that the matter had come in the court and how they could keep it apart. The court while moving to counsel for Foreign Ministry asked to detailed report on court's questions till Friday.
