PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday issued notices to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary, secretary of Irrigation and deputy commissioner of North Waziristan on a petition against the shifting of special integrated funds meant for Mir Ali tehsil and Wazir subdivision to other districts.

The petitioner, Malik Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, filed the petition through his lawyer Bashir Wazir Advocate. He told the court that the government had approved funds for the construction of protective walls and water channels to minimize the losses from floods in Mir Ali tehsil and Wazir sub-division. He said that the government granted approval to the district administration after the feasibility reports to execute the uplift project in 2023. However, he said that the work was stopped when the provincial government changed. He said the funds had been shifted to other districts.
