Youths imparted entrepreneurial skills at GIK Institute
SWABI: The Ghulam Ishaq Khan (GIK) Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology has imparted entrepreneurial skills to youth develop in them the capability to run their own business instead of seeking jobs after completing education.
The three-day activity was organised by JS Bank in collaboration with the Directorate of Science and Technology (DoST), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.The prize distribution ceremony was arranged on Monday after the training at the GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology.
Along with youngsters from other parts of the country, the youth from Sri Lanka also participated in the event.The five Sri Lankan students led by Fathima Zaynah Arafath said that it was a great honour for them.
She said such interaction among the students of universities in South Asian countries should be arranged to boost cooperation and collaboration for a prosperous and peaceful future.Other participants said it was a matter of pride for them to be at the event at the GIK Institute from which they have learned.
Director of Incubation at the GIK Institute Amin Qureshi who coordinated the event said the main objective was to impart entrepreneurial skills to youth who instead of seeking jobs should develop the capability to run their own business while offering employment to others and all this is expected to prove very beneficial for Pakistan’s feeble economy.
Director-General of DoST, Sajid Shah, said the directorate had extended support to the talented and innovative students, and breakthroughs in the field of science and technology were one of their main priorities and ready to support all those who can deliver. He said the competent students could contact DoST for support while stressing quality education and concentrating on innovative ideas.
Pro-Rector Admin and Finance Sardar Aminullah Khan said that the GIK Institute focused on innovation and result-oriented research.He lauded the collaboration among DoST, GIK Institute and the JS Bank.
“The DoST and GIK Institute have already completed some projects and are expected to initiate more very soon, appreciating the establishment of GIK Institute’s Incubation with the financial assistance of DoST.Shields and certificates were awarded to excelling students.
