Rawalpindi:The first-ever Punjab Premier League (PPL) T-20 cricket tournament is scheduled to be held in September in Rawalpindi, says a press release.
Eight teams from across the Punjab province will be participating in the league which is approved by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Open trials of the players for Rawalpindi’s Markhor team will be held on Wednesday, August 28 at Ayub Park Ground.
According to the details, former test cricketers Yasir Shah, Hasan Raza, Junaid Khan, Abdul Rauf, and Naveed Qureshi will supervise the trials of players to be included in the Markhor (Rawalpindi) team.
Chief Coordinator, Zulfiqar Ali informed APP that open trials would start at 9:00 a.m. at Ayub Park Cricket Ground in which players of all ages can participate. He further informed that besides the test cricketers, Major Nadeem Siddal, women’s coach Salim Yousafi, local coach Taimur Azam, Naveed Abbasi, and Asif Bajwa would also be present on the occasion.
“The final team of Rawalpindi will be announced one day after the completion of trials”, he said. The players who wish to participate in the trials have been instructed to come in white kit, get registered at 9 am, and strictly follow the timing of the trials. It is worth mentioning that all the matches of PCB’s approved first-ever Punjab Premier League will be played at Ayub Park Cricket Ground.
