FAISALABAD: The two-day International Lyallpur History Conference organized by the Lyallpur Literary Council is starting today (Monday). Historians, researchers and social scientists from the country and abroad will participate in this conference.
President of Lyallpur Literary Council and well-known industrialist Musadik Zulqarnain has termed the holding of the conference as an important milestone to highlight the historical identity of Lyallpur at the global level and to advance research on its history and cultural heritage. He has said that the purpose of holding the conference is to promote a global dialogue in the context of the history of Lyallpur which transcends borders and ideologies. He expressed the hope that holding the conference would encourage researchers and students of history to contribute to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage of Lyallpur.
According to the convener of the conference, Dr. Tawheed Chatta, religious tolerance in Punjab, migration and post-partition dynamics, revolutionary voices in colonial Punjab, labour movements and communal identity of Lyallpur, cultural and social dynamics in Faisalabad will be discussed during the sessions of the conference.
Explorations and traces, from past to modernity historical narratives and key figures of Lyallpur, social dynamics and climatic challenges in Punjab, cultural regional transitions and literary politics of Lyallpur, discourses and research papers on the architectural narrative of Lyallpur will be presented.
Among the speakers of the conference are Dr. N. Murphy (Canada), Dr. Ali Usman Qasmi, Dr. Anne Casting (France), Dr. Philippe Zimsch (Germany), Prof. Pippa Vardi (UK), Manveer Singh (USA), Dr. Kanwal Khalid, Prof. Pashora Singh (USA)), Dr. Pierre-Alain Baud (France), Aamir Riaz, Dr. Yaqub Bangash, Parvez Windal and others are included.
