‘New bridge on Korangi Causeway to be opened on Jan 1’
Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has said that the bridge being constructed on the Korangi Causeway in Karachi would be opened to vehicular traffic on January 1, 2025.
Ghani on Sunday inspected the development works to reconstruct the Korangi Causeway as one of the mega uplift projects in the city. Project Director Tariq Mughal briefed the LG minister on the Korangi Causeway reconstruction project.
Ghani mentioned that work is under way day and night to complete the reconstruction of the Korangi Causeway. He said the reconstruction work would be completed by the start of the next year as a big gift of the provincial government to the people of the city.
He said the provincial government has been spending billions of rupees to complete mega uplift works all over the province, including the city, in pursuance of the vision for development of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
He also said that the construction of the new bridge on the Korangi Causeway would improve the commute of the people of Korangi, Landhi and Malir.
He recalled that the flow of vehicular traffic in the past monsoon seasons had been affected due to the inundation caused by the overflow of rainwater from the Malir River.
Ghani said the provincial government had ordered the construction of this bridge on an emergency basis to ensure the unhindered flow of traffic on the Korangi Causeway.
He said the provincial government has been constructing development projects in all parts of the province without any discrimination to serve the people in the best possible manner.
He also said that the construction of the Malir Expressway is under way expeditiously, with the mega project designed in a manner to provide fast travelling facility to a large number of people.
Later, he planted a coconut tree sapling, along with Korangi Town Chairman Muhammad Naeem Sheikh, as part of the ongoing ‘Clean and Green Korangi’ campaign. MPA Farooq Awan, PPP District Korangi President Jani Memon, Sheeraz Waheed, Ahmed Raza and others accompanied the LG minister during the visit.
