Overcharging on fruits, vegetables continues as official rates not implemented

LAHORE:The rates of majority of seasonal vegetables have decreased in official rate lists, but these rates are not implemented in the market as massive overcharging continues.

The sellers claimed that they could not follow official rate lists because they didn’t get vegetables and fruits at official rates from wholesale markets. The new deputy commissioner seems busy visiting Badami Bagh market to control rates. But consumers are not things on official rates.

This week price of chicken was reduced by Rs21 per kg, fixed at Rs374-388 per kg, sold at Rs450-480 per kg and chicken meat by Rs31 per kg, fixed Rs562 per kg, and sold Rs600-900 per kg.

The price of potato soft skin reduced by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs80-85 per kg, sold at Rs150 per kg, B-grade at Rs70-75 per kg, and C-grade at Rs55-60 per kilogram, mixed sold at Rs120-130 per kg.

The price of onion A-grade gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs132-140 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg, B-grade at Rs114-120 per kg, and C-grade by Rs5 per kg, fixed at Rs100-105 per kg, mixed sold at Rs130-150 per kg.

The price of tomato A-grade increased by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs125-135 per kg, sold at Rs250 per kg, B-grade fixed at Rs107-115 per kg, and C-grade at Rs94-100 per kg, mixed sold at Rs160-200 per kg.

The price of garlic local further declined by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs365-380 per kg, sold at Rs500-600 per kg, Garlic Harnai by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs380-395 per kg, sold at Rs600 per kg, Garlic GI variety gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs165-170 per kg, sold at Rs350-400 per kg and Garlic China reduced by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs485-505 per kg, sold at Rs800-1000 per kg.

The price of Ginger Thai declined by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs565-585 per kg, and Ginger Chinese by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs565-585 per kg, both sold at Rs800-1000 per kg.

Cucumber Farm was further gained by Rs10 per kg, unchanged at Rs95-100 per kg, sold at Rs160-200 per kg, and cucumber local price was fixed at Rs135-140 per kg, sold at Rs300 per kg.

Brinjal price was declined by Rs70 per kg, fixed Rs155-160 per kg, sold at Rs200-220 per kg.

Bitter gourd gained by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs145-150 per kg, sold at Rs200-220 per kg.

The price Spinach farm declined by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs57-60 at Rs100-120 per kg.

Zucchini local was reduced by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs155-160 per kg, sold at Rs250 per kg.

The lemon local gained by Rs80 per kg, fixed at Rs530-550 per kg, sold at Rs800-1000 per kg. Pumpkin was further declined by Rs75 per kg, fixed at Rs76-80 per kg, sold at Rs100-140 per kg. Ladyfinger further reduced by Rs35 per kg, fixed at Rs125-130 per kg, sold at Rs180-200 per kg. Lufa price was further declined by Rs30 per kg, fixed at Rs67-70 per kg, sold at Rs100-120 per kg. Turnip was reduced by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs95-100 per kg, sold at Rs250 per kg. Pea price was further reduced by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs300-310 per kg, sold at Rs450 per kg. Beetroot was sold at Rs400 per kg. Coriander was sold at Rs50 per bundle. Beans was fixed at Rs140-240 per kg, sold at Rs400-550 per kg.

The price of different variety of apples fixed at Rs150-400 per kg, sold at Rs200-500 per kg. The price of Banana A-category gained by Rs10 per doze, fixed at Rs150-155 per dozen, sold at Rs200-220 per dozen, and B-category fixed at Rs95-100 per dozen, sold at Rs150-160 per dozen, and C-category fixed at Rs70-74 per dozen, sold at Rs120-130 per dozen. Guava price was declined by Rs10 per kg, fixed at Rs100-145 per kg, sold at Rs200-300 per kg. Pomegranate desi was gained by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs240-250 per kg, sold at Rs350-400 per kg.

Grapes Sunderkhani reduced by Rs20 per kg, fixed at Rs355-370 per kg, sold at Rs450-600 per kg, grapes gold reduced by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs190-200 per kg, sold at Rs250-400 per kg.

Mangoes of different variety was gained by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs125-255 per kg, sold at Rs200-500 per kg. Plum A-grade declined by Rs15 per kg, fixed at Rs230-240 kg, sold at Rs350-400 per kg, and B-grade, fixed at Rs135-140 per kg, sold at Rs220-280 per kg.
