RAWALPINDI: Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Imran Khan, received a medical examination at Adiala jail by a doctor from Shaukat Khanum Hospital.
The check-up was done following a court order, which was issued after Khan’s legal team requested medical attention for their client. Dr Muhammad Asim Younis, a physician from Shaukat Khanum Hospital, conducted a thorough examination of PTI leader in the jail’s conference room at 1:00pm on Saturday. According to sources within the jail, the former prime minister has been suffering from tinnitus, a condition that causes persistent ringing in the ears. Earlier, the jail administration had arranged for an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist, Dr Ahmad Hassan from Benazir Bhutto Hospital, to examine Imran Khan.
After diagnosing the condition, Dr Hassan prescribed medication, which Khan reportedly used for a few days before discontinuing it under the advice of his personal physician. As the condition worsened in recent days, the jail authorities once again called in an ENT specialist and recommended that Imran Khan should resume his previous medication.
However, the former prime minister expressed his preference to be examined by his personal doctor, according to sources.
