‘Imran averted another May 9 by postponing PTI rally’
PTI’s politics and political activities have always been peaceful
ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Ali Muhammad Khan Saturday said party’s founder chairman Imran Khan evaded another May 9 from happening by postponing the Aug 22 rally in the federal capital.
Talking to journalists outside the Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail after having met the party founder who is incarcerated in the jail, Ali Muhammad continued that a true leader had averted any possibility of confrontation, as religious parties were also converging in connection with the highly sensitive case in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
He contended that by taking this decision, his leader had provided an opportunity to the state and the government to act sensibly and that those who resort to violence and unrest were some other people, as PTI’s politics and political activities have always been peaceful.
“PTI believes in politics in accordance with the Constitution and the law. The government has already issued an NOC for September 8 meeting with a promise to provide a suitable place for this activity,” he said.
He said that 250 million years of the nation had been wasted by keeping the PTI founder chairman in jail, as he is leader of 250 million Pakistanis. He explaining that not only one year of Imran had been wasted by putting him in confinement but of each and every Pakistan and hence 250 million years had been wasted.
“When a leader of the nation is subjected to political victimisation, it is in fact injustice to the people, who look towards him. A leader always gives hope,” he emphasised. Referring to his meeting with Imran, where a team of his lawyers was also present for consultation concerning the legal matters, Ali Muhammad said that the decision to postpone the August 22 public meeting in Islamabad was made by a leader, not a politician.
