Sindh govt reduces minimum cut-off marks for admission to colleges
The Sindh government on Saturday decided to reduce the minimum cut-off marks, the minimum eligibility criterion any candidate should secure for intermediate college-level education, for admissions to the government-run colleges in the province so that their seats shouldn’t remain vacant.
According to Director General Colleges Sindh Dr Navaid Rab Siddiqui, cut-off marks for obtaining admissions to various colleges in Sindh had been reduced by 20 to 50 marks.
He said that the number of seats for fresh admissions had been increased at some colleges. He said six colleges had been selected for setting up complaint centers given the higher number of issues raised by the concerned parents and candidates related to the ongoing process of the Sindh Electronic Centralised College Admission Policy.
These complaint centres had been set up at the DJ Government Science College, Government College for Men Nazimabad, Government Degree Boys College Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Government Girls College Sharea Liaquat, Sir Syed College, and Khursheed Government Girls College.
Giving details about the ongoing process of granting admissions to colleges, the DG College said that as many as 169,890 students had submitted admission applications for the faculties of Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, Commerce, Computer Science, and Home Economics through the web portal. Some 167,309 candidates have been awarded admissions.
