JAMRUD: The government hospitals in Khyber district are providing diagnosis and treatment of leishmaniasis disease free of charge therefore the patients should not visit private clinics, an official said on Saturday.
Dr Khalid Saleem, a dermatologist at the Civil Hospital in Jamrud, told the media that leishmaniasis was not a life-threatening disease, but it should be treated timely to avoid complications. The doctor said the treatment facilities were available at hospitals in the three tehsils in the tribal district. He said that the patients should visit the hospitals to seek the free of charge treatment.
He said the disease was caused by the bite of a mosquito, calling for its timely treatment. He said that the patients had rashes on the skin as a result of the disease.
