LANDIKOTAL: Community leaders, local government representatives and students from Bazaar Zekhakhel, the remote

region of Landikotal, on Saturday asked the

government to appoint teachers at schools in

their area.

Councillor Muslim Gul Afridi, Chairman Fateh Gul Afridi, and Ashraf Afridi highlighted the lack of educational facilities in their area.

They said that despite the upgradation of Sher Rehmankhel Primary School and a middle

school in 2013, teachers were yet to be appointed there.

They noted that students were unable to get

education beyond the fourth grade due to the

long distance to the nearest facilities in Kermina and Barg.

Criticizing the government for inaction, they threatened to boycott

anti-polio vaccination in protest.

They said their repeated appeals to authorities had fallen on deaf ears.

They feared that the local students would be unable to continue education if the issue remained unresolved.
