DIR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi on Saturday said that the youth of the province reposed confidence in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the third time and all possible steps would be taken to facilitate them.

“The chief minister is committed to solving the problems of the people at their doorsteps under the vision of PTI founder Imran Khan. It is unfortunate that there is a shortage of teaching staff and facilities in the colleges of Upper Dir, especially in the Degree College for Girls. These issues will soon be addressed,” he told a gathering here.

MPAs Muhammad Anwar Khan, Yamin Khan, Director Higher Education and Regional Director Inayat Khan were also present on the occasion.

Assuring to resolve the issues facing the students, the minister said that every possible steps would be taken to promote education.

“I want to assure MPA Anwar Khan that the issue of shortage of teaching staff will soon be solved,” he added.

The minister said that Rs39 billion were being spent on development schemes in the province. “We have released funds for Upper Dir despite economic crunch as the federal government is not supporting the provincial government,” he added

Meena Khan said that the PTI founder had a firm commitment to make the country corruption free. “We will not allow anyone to misuse the funds aimed at upliftment of the people,” he added.

Earlier, Government Degree College Upper Dir for Boys Principal Rashid Ahmed briefed the minister on the shortage of teaching staff, facilities, and BS programmes in the four boys’ degree colleges and the only girls’ degree college in Upper Dir.
