Two arrested for raping boy

LAHORE : Police on Saturday arrested two persons for assaulting a boy.

The accused named Abdul Rehman and Ali Haider took 14-year-old Abdul Rahman to a room and sexually assaulted him. They filmed the scene and threatened the victim with making the video viral if he told anyone. The child's father had registered a case of molestation in Shafiqabad police station.

16,156 POs arrested this year

Police arrested 16,156 proclaimed offenders (POs), 20,429 court absconders and 6,838 habitual criminals this year. The spokesman of Lahore Police said that 3,318 POs, 3,071 court absconders and 1,028 habitual criminals were arrested by Cantt Division. 1,355 POs, 2,757 court absconders and 465 habitual criminals by Civil Lines Division, 3,856 POs, 5,043 court absconders and 2,308 habitual criminals by City Division, 2,224 POs, 3,122 court absconders and 1,065 habitual criminals by Iqbal Town Division, 2,711 POs, 3,017 court absconders and 1,151 habitual criminals by Sadar Division, and 2,692 POs, 3,419 court absconders and 821 habitual criminals were arrested by Model Town Division.

IG salutes martyred cops

IG Punjab met with the families of police martyrs of Kacha Machhka. He consoled the bereaved families of police martyrs. He saluted those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country and the nation. He said that they will not let the sacrifices of martyrs go in vain. He said that the dacoits of Kacha involved in the martyrdom of police personnel will be taken to task.

Youth commits suicide

A 24-year-old youth committed suicide by consuming poisonous pills near Lohewali Puli, Badami Bagh, on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Ali Hasan. The reason behind the suicide was ye to be established. The body was shifted to the mortuary.

Road accidents

The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,226 road accidents in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

In these road accidents, 11 people died, whereas 1,332 were injured. Out of these, 563 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 769 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams. The majority (77%) of these incidents involved motorbikes, underscoring the critical need for effective enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline to curb the rising number of road accidents.

Furthermore, the analysis showed those 724 drivers, 64 underage drivers, 136 pedestrians, and 491 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes. The statistics showed that 262 road accidents were reported in Lahore which affected 286 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by Faisalabad 85 in with 103 victims and at third Multan with 84 road accidents and 103 victims.

The details further revealed that 1,351 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 1086 males & 265 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 210 were under 18 years of age, 750 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 391 victims were reported above 40 years of age.

According to the data 1,116 motorbikes, 62 auto-rickshaws, 126 motorcars, 23 vans, 10 passenger buses, 32 truck and 87 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
