Power price cut
I am writing to bring attention to the pressing issue of electricity prices in our country. The current power prices are unsustainable for many households and businesses. It is imperative that we demand a uniform electricity price throughout Pakistan. Our country has the capacity to generate over 45,000MW of electricity, exceeding our requirements. However, the transmission lines can only handle 22-25,000MW. To address this issue, I propose that the government engage in talks with local and public independent power producers (IPPs) to find a solution.
I suggest privatizing electricity distribution companies and issuing licenses to additional companies in each region. This will encourage competition and drive down prices. I urge the prime minister to take immediate action and announce a nationwide reduction of Rs20 per unit in electricity prices. This is the only way to provide genuine relief to the people of Pakistan. Let us come together to demand a fair and uniform electricity price for all.
