LAHORE: PDMA Punjab has predicted monsoon rains from August 25 to 29 in Punjab including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Gujarat, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sahiwal divisions.
PDMA issued a flash flooding alert in South Punjab with heavy rains in most of the districts from August 24 to 30. Due to heavy rains in Mount Sulaiman and Kirthar ranges, there is a fear of flood in the mountains.
Commissioner Dera Ghazi was alerted about the situation with notice to Deputy Commissioners Rajanpur and DG Khan. There is a risk of flash flooding due to heavy rains in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur. DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia also issued instructions to the administration to remain alert. He said that all departments should be vigilant to deal with emergencies. Monitoring of the situation in the PDMA control room will continue 24/7 while Rescue 1122 and other rescue agencies have been put on alert. As per the PDMA advisory, people were asked to be careful and stay away from power poles, hanging wires, dirty houses and dilapidated buildings. In case of emergency, call PDMA helpline 1129.
