The Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training has expressed concern over the lack of interest of Vice Chancellor Dr Zabta Khan Shanwari in establishing a sub campus of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Sciences and Technology (Fuuast) in Mirpurkhas.
A letter, written by Adnan Asif, director of Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, said the education ministry had formed a committee dated 05.06.2024. It said the committee was tasked to recommend sites/buildings for the establishment of a sub campus at Mirpurkhas, propose a roadmap in the next six months for the establishment and operation of such campuses, ensure a cost-effective solution and also recommend courses on new trends of market as well as the need for high employability.
In this regard, it is observed with concern that no concrete effort has been made by the university as yet despite the letter that the secretary of the education ministry wrote to chief secretary of Sindh for facilitation.
It is further observed that a meeting on the subject matter was mostly attended by junior level representatives of the university, who were unable to take any decision or contribute to the meeting’s proceedings. The letter further said that in view thereof, “you
are directed to clarify your position within three days of receipt of this letter”.
