People rally in Shangla to demand peace

ALPURI: The Amn Pasoon on Friday held a rally in Shangla district to demand peace and express their opposition towards displacement in the name of action against lawlessness.

A good number of activists of the political parties, trade unions, students and lawyers participated in the peace rally to voice opposition to militancy.District Bar Association Shangla president Waqif Shah Advocate, former senator Maulana Rahat Hussain, tehsil nazim Bisham Sadeedur Rahman, tehsil nazim Alpuri Waqar Ahmad Khan, tehsil nazim Puran Abdul Maula, Mutawakil Khan Advocate, Naiz Khan, Gulab Khan Shapuri, Shah Saud Khan and others addressed the gathering. The participants in the rally carried white flags and chanted slogans against lawlessness.

The speakers said that they would not allow anybody to vitiate the peace in the province, adding that like the past, they would not become part of any conspiracy. They said Shangla was a peaceful area and nobody would be allowed to disturb its peace. The residents of Shangla were not willing to become displaced, they added.

The speakers said they would continue making efforts for the restoration of peace, adding that instability and lawlessness would affect the life and business of the people. They said the police should be equipped to tackle militancy.
