Customs authorities destroy 1,150 litres of expired beverage
LANDIKOTAL: The customs enforcement officials at the Torkham border destroyed 1,150 litres of expired beverage concentrate used in soft drinks manufacturing on Friday.Talking to journalists, Deputy Collector Customs Haseeb Bajwa said a beverage company had exported the concentrate to Afghanistan where it expired. He said the expired beverage was imported back to Pakistan by the owner, who voluntarily surrendered it to the customs’ authorities at Torkham border. The official said the worth of the beverage in the open market is millions of rupees. He said following the volunteer seizure procedure, customs officials completed the necessary legal formalities and destroyed it.Haseeb Bajwa said the authorities would continue to remain vigilant in their efforts to prevent the circulation of expired or non-compliant goods from and to Afghanistan.
