Five-year-old missing girl found murdered
LAHORE:A five-year-old girl, who went missing from the Batapur area, was found murdered. The girl's killer was identified as her father's close friend Kashif. According to the police, the girl, identified as Fajr, went missing from Batapur on August 10. The police registered an abduction case and initiated a search.
The accused Kashif had been searching for the girl with the family. He continued to demand money from the girl's father even after the murder. The police arrested Kashif, who confessed to killing the girl during interrogation. On his identification, the girl's clothes, bones and hair were recovered and sent to the forensic lab for analysis.
Prayer ceremony
A prayer ceremony was organised at the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) to pay tribute to the police martyrs of the Kacha Machka incident. Safe City police communication officers, staff and personnel from other law enforcement agencies participated in the prayer. The prayers were also offered for the elevation of the martyrs' ranks and the safety of the country and the nation.
Road accidents
The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,309 road accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
In these road accidents, five people died, whereas 1,377 were injured. Out of these, 628 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 749 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
The majority (77%) of these incidents involved motorbikes, underscoring the critical need for effective enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline to curb the rising number of road accidents.
Furthermore, the analysis showed those 765 drivers, 57 underage drivers, 179 pedestrians, and 438 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes. The statistics showed that 288 road accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 318 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by Faisalabad 98 in with 109 victims and at third Multan with 93 road accidents and 85 victims.
The details further revealed that 1,382 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 1,155 males and 227 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 214 were under 18 years of age, 759 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 409 victims were reported above 40 years of age.
According to the data 1,204 motorbikes, 74 auto-rickshaws, 131 motorcars, 20 vans, 14 passenger buses, 36 truck and 106 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
