In the Islamabad-Rawalpindi area, it has become a routine practice to close the main roads whenever protest rallies are announced. The roads are generally blocked-off with large containers so as to restrict the movement of vehicles and people. To my knowledge, this is done on the directions of the local administrations of the twin cities.
This blocking off of roads is a significant hindrance to all regular people simply trying to get on with their lives. I suggest that the local administrations of Rawalpindi and Islamabad announce a local holiday whenever they feel the need to place the containers.
