PESHAWAR: Alamgir Afridi, noted columnist and deputy director media and protocol Khyber Medical University, successfully defended his PhD thesis at the Pakistan Studies Centre University of Peshawar on Thursday.

Alamgir Afridi, who is also a visiting faculty at the KMU, did his research on “Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Leadership: A Comparative Study of Mian Tufail Mohammad and Qazi Hussain Ahmad (1972-2009)” under the supervision of former director Pakistan Study Centre Prof Dr Fakhrul Islam.

Dr Najibullah Khan of the Qurtuba University Peshawar and Dr Ibrar of the Institute of Peace Studies, University of Peshawar served as his examiners at the public defense. Director Pakistan Study Center Prof Dr Shahbaz Khan, former director advanced studies of the University of Peshawar, Prof Dr Arshad Ali and a number of faculty members and scholars attended the defense.

Meanwhile, Syeda Rabia Gul, daughter of Syed Murshid Ali of Toru, Mardan district, completed her MPhil degree in Urdu from International Islamic University Islamabad. She did research on the topic “Reflection of the Problem of Pashtun Women in the Prose of Zaitun Bano.”

Dr Saira Batool, in charge of the Urdu Department of the female campus of Islamic University, supervised her research.Dr Ghulam Fareed was her internal examiner and Dr Sher Ali external examiner at the defence.
