BARA: Tirah Siyasi Ittehad has asked the government to restore peace forthwith in the Maidan area of Tirah valley in the Khyber tribal district.

Speaking at a press conference here, Tirah Siyasi Ittehad president Sher Afgan Afridi and other elders said that the people had been facing a host of problems as the activities of the militants had increased in the valley. They said that the authorities concerned had failed to restore peace in Tirah valley.

“The increase in militants’ activists in the Maidan area of the Tirah valley has created an unrest among the people who have been trying to cope with the situation after their return to the valley in the wake of military operation,” said Sher Afgan.

He said that the people had been suffering due to the deteriorating law and order situation and the closure of the internet in the Tirah valley.Sher Afgan expressed his astonishment at how the militants managed to sneak into the Tirah valley despite stiff security arrangements on the border.

He also came down hard on the elected representatives from the area for their failure to come up to the expectations of the people. “The elected representatives have not played any role in solving the basic problems of the people of the Tirah valley,” he added. The elders also requested the Corps Commander Peshawar and IGFC North to take immediate steps to solve the problems being faced by the people in Tirah valley.
