Workshop on juvenile justice held
LAHORE: Legal Awareness Watch, under the Juvenile Justice Advocacy Network, organised a two-day training workshop aimed at enhancing the skills of key stakeholders involved in juvenile justice.
The workshop focused on capacity building for those responsible for implementing the Juvenile Justice System Act 2018, which was enacted in May 2018 to protect children in conflict with the law and facilitate their reintegration into society.
During the workshop, concerns were raised about the lack of progress in establishing juvenile justice committees across Punjab, despite the law being in effect for over six years. Participants pointed out that the rules of business for these committees have yet to be introduced, limiting their functionality in addressing both minor and major offences committed by children.
