Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Thursday visited Essa Nagri in District East to monitor an ongoing water supply project supported by the World Bank.

He acknowledged that the area had been neglected in the past, but the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was committed to working impartially in all areas. He highlighted the party’s goal of bridging the gap between underdeveloped and developed regions through various developmental projects.

Wahab stressed that the completion of the pipeline work in Essa Nagri would address the issue of clean drinking water. Separately, Engineer Asadullah Khan, chief operating officer (COO) of the Karachi Water Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), visited Al-Hilal Society on Thursday to inspect the ongoing replacement of water valves.

Accompanied by Chief Engineer Water Trunk Main Zafar Palijo, Syed Ijaz Ahmed, Tanveer Shaikh, Rizwan Ahsan, and other senior officials, Khan detailed the project’s significance. Following special instructions from Karachi’s Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, the COO explained that KWSC was replacing 60-inch valves in the 66-inch Old City trunk main and the 60-inch cast iron system. This upgrade was expected to significantly improve water supply management and enhance the city’s overall water control system.
