KARACHI: Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, chaired a feedback meeting on the secnd edition of the FoodAg exhibition, which took place from August 9th to 11th, 2024.

The event was organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Ministry of Commerce.Chief Executive of TDAP Zubair Motiwalla told the commerce minister during the meeting that the exhibition saw participation from 320 companies and attracted 873 buyers from 73 countries over its three-day duration.

TDAP facilitated 6,500 sector-specific B2B meetings between foreign buyers and local exhibitors, which are anticipated to generate business worth approximately $1.2 billion. Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) totalling $100 million were signed during the event. The exhibition also hosted 13 regulatory authorities from various countries to address quarantine and certification issues, alongside government-to-government (G2G) meetings with international counterparts.

The commerce minister commended TDAP for its efforts and pledged support to enhance Pakistan’s agro exports. It was announced during the meeting that the third edition of FoodAg will be held in September 2025 and will extend over four days. The event will include dedicated space for provincial agriculture departments to showcase their potential to international buyers.

FoodAg 2024 was inaugurated on August 9 by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.The exhibition serves as a critical platform organized by the government to invite global buyers to explore the diverse range of agro and food products offered by Pakistani companies, catering to their procurement and sourcing needs.
