LAHORE: The Punjab government has enforced Section 144 across the province for three days and issued a notification effective from August 22 to 24 (Thursday-Saturday), banning rallies, processions, sit-ins and protests.
A spokesperson for the Home Department stated that Section 144 has been enforced to maintain law and order to safeguard lives and property. The notification highlights that any public gathering under current security conditions could be a potential soft target for terrorists. The spokesperson added that Section 144 has been enforced to ensure its strict compliance and a campaign regarding enforcement has also been ordered for public awareness.
