ISLAMABAD: Four Disco boards were dissolved following cabinet approval on Wednesday. They were replaced by new officials to man at least nine out of the 11 boards.
New boards of Kepco, Gepco, Qesco, Tesco and Pesco will work for three years. Imran Zafar has been notified as chairman of Gepco, while other independent directors include Dr Tahir Masud, Miss Zoya Khurshid Khan, Ilyas Ahmad and Mohammad Siddique. Mahfooz Ali Khan would be the chairman of Quetta Electric Supply Corporation and independent directors include Hammar Ullah Baloch, Tahir Rashid, Ms Roshan Khursheed Barocha and Ahmedur Rehman.
Himyatullah Khan would be the chairman of Pesco and Tribal Electric Supply Company. Tahir Ali Khan, Fazal Khalique, Ms Samina Akbar Khattak and Saud Azam are independent members of the board.
The Board Nomination Committee led by Minister for Power had recommended the dissolution of these boards. Previously, the boards of five Discos were recostituted including Fesco, Mepco, Lesco, Hesco and Iseco. The cabinet had approved dissolution of nine boards. The prime minister had suspended the reconstitution of Hyderabad and Sukkur electric supply corporations.
