1,263MW power plant at Trimmu: PTPL seeks tariff of 6.5 cents per unit on RLNG, 11.4 cents per unit on HSD

Combined cycle power plant has an efficiency of 61.16% which was completed and commissioned for $707.7 million

ISLAMABAD: For its second RLNG-based 1,263 MW thermal power plant at Trimmu Barrage, Jhang, Punjab Thermal Power Private Limited (PTPL) has submitted a pet­i­tion with Nepra seeking lev­elized tariff of 6.5385 US cents per unit on RLNG and 11.4952 US cents per unit on HSD (high-speed diesel) as a fuel.

One of the gas turbines of the project caught fire in the wee hours of August 3, 2024. The combined cycle power plant has an efficiency of 61.16 percent which was completed and commissioned for $707.7 million. The Punjab government owns the project which was built based on 25 percent equity and 75 percent loans from the National Bank of Pakistan, Bank of Punjab, United Bank Limited and Habib Bank Limited. Nepra has admitted the petition.
